Microphones
Calundronius Recordings employs the following types of microphones:
- Oktava MC-012 small diaphragm condenser microphones with selectable cardiod, hypercardioid or omnidirectional heads
- AKG CK94 small diaphragm condenser microphones with figure-8 directional pattern heads
- AKG C4000B large diaphragm condenser microphones, with switchable pattern (cardiod / hypercardioid / omnidirectional)
- Neumann TLM-103 large diaphragm condenser microphones, with cardioid directional pattern
Using these microphones, we have achieved excellent results:
- Direct instrument miking, with multitrack recording
- Stereo miking, near-coincident pair
- Stereo miking, M-S pair
- Stereo miking, ORTF pair
- Stereo miking, Blumlein pair
- Wide-spaced omnis
- Wide-spaced omnis with stereo fill-in
The particular recording technique suitable for a recording project varies according to the number of performers and the venue.
Direct input from instruments/mixers or mixing board may also be euseful in some situations.
